BIZET
Symphony C major ZPO - conducter by Taras Kutsenko
Gounod's Symphony No.1 in D major. The First Symphony is a typical work by a young composer of the post-Beethoven era, written in the classical tradition of symphonies by Haydn and Mozart. Light, graceful, light - all these words apply here. It is difficult for me to say how exciting this music is today, especially for sophisticated listeners, but it is well suited for emotional relief. The symphony also has the energy and spirit of youth, a kind of adventurousness and dexterity that corresponds to a child's temperament, which is why it will be easily accepted by young lovers of classics. This work was probably the model for the Bizet: Symphony in C major. Bizet arranged this work for piano duet shortly before starting work on his own first symphony.
